TYPHOON "MANGKHUT" HAS FURTHER INTENSIFIED & IT WILL ENTER THE PAR THIS AFTERNOON.

Location @ 8AM today: The eye of Typhoon MANGKHUT was estimated on all available data at 1,190km East Northeast of Guiuan, Eastern Samar (OUTSIDE PAR)(13.8°N,136.3°E)

Maximum Sustained Winds: 205km/h near the center
Gustiness: Up to 255km/h
Movement: West at 20km/h

Heavy rains & strong winds possible over Northern Luzon & parts of Central & Southern Luzon. Surrounding seas will be rough to very rough. May enhance the “Habagat” which will bring occasional rains over Palawan, Mindoro Provinces & Western Visayas by Friday and Saturday.

At 10AM today,
Location of Center: 1,300 km East of Northern Luzon (17.9°N, 135.8°E)
Maximum sustained winds: 120km/h near the center
Gustiness: up to 145km/h
Forecast movement: west northwest at 25 km/h

The Typhoon outside of Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has no direct effect yet in any part of the country as of this moment. However, it is expected to enter PAR this afternoon and will be named “LANNIE”.

This weather system is expected to move generally west northwestward in the general direction of Extreme Northern Luzon-Taiwan area. Furthermore, the possibility of intensifying further is likely.

Meanwhile, the previously monitored Low Pressure Area (LPA) east of Bicol region was estimated at 400km east of Quezon province (14.80N, 125.70E). This weather system is expected to bring moderate to occasionally heavy rains over Visayas, Southern Luzon, Central Luzon and Metro Manila beginning today and tomorrow. Flashflood and landslides is expected over Bicol region and the provinces of Zambales and Aurora.
